People in Austria can also expect rain and wind, especially at the beginning of the week.
End of the calm weather phase
The persistent high-pressure system that has recently brought mostly calm weather to Central and Western Europe is weakening. Starting this weekend, several low-pressure systems will spread from the Atlantic to the continent. First, the British Isles (Great Britain and Ireland) will be affected, then France, and at the beginning of the new week, the changeable weather will finally reach Central Europe.
First offshoots reach Austria
On Monday, it will be wet in western Austria, especially in Vorarlberg and Tyrol. On Tuesday, the rainfall will spread further east, with rain also possible in Upper and Lower Austria and Vienna. The first low-pressure system will bring strong winds in addition to rain. Storm gusts are expected on Sunday from northern Spain (Spain) to Ireland and Scotland (both United Kingdom) to the French Atlantic coast. These could reach speeds of over 80 km/h.
Stormy start to the week in Western Europe
On Monday, the weather situation will worsen between Brittany (France) and the English Channel (strait between England and France) up to Denmark. Stormy weather is expected there. In Austria, the wind will increase noticeably, but will remain significantly weaker than in its western neighbors.
New low-pressure system in sight for midweek
The next low-pressure system from the Atlantic is already looming for midweek. According to current forecasts, this could develop into a powerful storm that will once again affect large parts of Europe. However, more accurate predictions are not yet possible.
